Sonya’s Blog - Day 303 - April 20th - My Sister’s Birthday

Today, we were hanging out at camp and getting some cleaning done. Our RV needed a good clean up, so today was the day. Blake had to run into Oakhurst (the nearest town with amenities, about 15 min’s away) to get a haircut, gas for our drive tomorrow and other such necessities. He was gone for about 2 hours while the kids and I went all out and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned.

Everything went well and we were all done when Blake got back. Isaac and I were playing a game of crib, while Natasha hid in her room and did what Natasha does. Isaac ended up winning our game of crib, he had great cards. Blake still needs to help him decide what to keep, he always misses the runs.

Blake wanted to go for a bike ride through the abandoned golf course, but I wanted to walk Kizmet. Blake and Isaac got on their bikes and I grabbed Kizmet and we took off for the golf course. Interesting fact, California is in a severe drought and when we drove down the major interstates there are large signs telling you this, and then asking everyone to limit outdoor watering. The golf course, that nobody uses for golf, was watering the greens this morning when I walked Kizmet. Pretty sure that can be stopped. Three sprinklers on each green! What a waste.

So Isaac and Blake took off on their bikes and Kizmet and I walked along. We had a lovely walk, as it was another beautiful day. The boys had fun on their bikes and good times were had by all. Natasha was supposed to join us, but she did not. Party pooper.

Isaac and Blake are on the path, across the bridge. I snapped the picture at the worst time, because they are both behind the trees and you can only see their wheels. Ah, well.

When we got back we decided to play Ticket to Ride. Natasha refused to play with us, she was feeling she needed to be on her own. Plus, she was face-timing with friends in Calgary, so that probably had a lot to do with it. Well we had a good game, but Blake ended up winning.

We made some supper and then started getting stuff ready for our drive tomorrow. It is supposed to be about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but we will need to go slower on some of these mountain roads. I think it will take us closer to 4 1/2.

When we were done that, I wanted to call my sister to wish her a happy birthday. Blake had taken my phone and had been on it for over an hour talking to our brother in law, Adam. I finally took the phone away, as it was getting quite late in Calgary, so I could make my phone call. We sang Happy Birthday to her answering machine and her cell phone, but were not able to talk to her. It ended up being too late, she had already gone to bed. Some people still get up and go to work in the morning and aren’t slackers like us:) She appreciated our messages!
