Sonya’s Blog - Day 267 - March 15th - Riverview Park

We decided that today would be a good day for a picnic at Riverview Park in Mesa. Blake, Casey and Natasha went for a run first thing in the morning. Blake and I went to the store, after the run, and bought lunch stuff. Once everything was packed, we headed off to the park. It was about a 20 minute drive from where we were staying.

Riverview Park is lovely, with a splash pad, several playgrounds and some obstacle course type parks. It was very busy at the park, as it is Spring Break. We managed to find a picnic table in a picnic shelter, which was great. It was already very hot out. We had a great lunch and then it was time to go and check out the parks.

The Tower of Terror:

Isaac and Natasha climbed the tower of terror and the other ropes park. Ella played in the smaller parks and spent a lot of time at the splash pad. Blake, Isaac and I played frisbee for awhile while many kids came over to visit Natasha and Kizmet. Every time we looked over there were more kids visiting with Kizmet. She was a huge hit. We spent about 2 to 3 hours at the park and then it was time to head back to the house so that Ella could have her nap.

We just hung out at the house for nap time. I had finished my Songs in an Ordinary Time book. It was pretty good, I really didn’t like the ending. The book just sort of ended and I guess their lives will continue on just as they had been going. I guess there were some epiphanies, but just little ones. I looked through the several bookcases of books that are in the house and chose The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls. I have read two of her books, The Glass Castle and Half Broke Horses and enjoyed both of them. This one is a novel, so I was looking forward to it. The other plus was that it wasn’t a huge book, so I could probably finish it before we left, because I can’t take it with me.

We had supper after nap time was over. Once Ella was down us adults headed over to the tennis courts to play. There are only 2 tennis rackets so the boys played first and then Casey and I played. We then headed to the Pickle Ball court, which looks like a smaller tennis court. There are four rackets for Pickle Ball, so we were able to play doubles. Blake and I won the first game and then Casey and Cody won the second. I am not the best at Pickle Ball. We then went over to the hot tub for a little soak before heading back to the house.

Once we got back, I just headed to bed as I was so tired. Blake and Cody stayed up playing video games until quite late.
