Sonya’s Blog - Day 259 - March 7th - So Chilly today!
A cold front blew in last night and the temperatures dropped to -6. We forgot to leave one of the taps open and we had no water in the morning, because our outside hose was frozen solid. Luckily, we had water in our holding tank and the pump worked (didn’t get cold enough to freeze those lines up). Blake went out and unhooked the line and brought it in the RV to warm up. It still didn’t work when he hooked it back up an hour later, as the water was frozen in the tap as well. The water finally started flowing at about 10 AM, when the sun was really starting to shine and warm things up. It was only going to get up to about 12 today, so we decided to do errands today and the kids could do some school work.
A view of the campground from our RV:

Blake and I drove into Flagstaff (about 40 miles away), to get our RV tire replaced and to get some groceries. There was a Ross store beside the grocery store, so I went in there to get Isaac a new jacket. He didn’t want to give up his old one, but the sleeves do not reach his wrists anymore, so the time had come. I found him a nice jacket, at a good price, and also a nice fleece jacket to layer under it (which he will need when we hike tomorrow).
After Blake and I got all our errands done, we headed back towards Williams. We took Route 66 on our way out of Flagstaff, however, it joined up with the main interstate pretty quickly. We also had to stop at Camper’s World to get a few extra supplies for our RV. After that was accomplished, we drove through Williams to see if it was worth checking out. This is the last town on Route 66 that was bypassed by the interstate. The Historic District is very quaint, with a real Wild West feel to it. We decided it was worth a walk through with the kids before we leave.
Back at the campsite, the kids had accomplished quite a bit on their school work. I checked over Isaac’s work, just to make sure it was up to my standards. He has come a long way and his work has really improved, so that is nice to see. He is also getting more done, in less time (when he finally gets to it), so that is also a huge accomplishment.
It started snowing, not long after we got back. Hopefully it doesn’t snow all night.
We watched Avengers and then had supper. After supper Blake put in a few of our home movie discs. Before we left Calgary, we had taken all our old camcorder tapes in to be digitized. We have no idea what is on each disc, so we have to watch them in order to label the discs. The ones that we chose were of Natasha when she was just a wee baby, so cute! Blake, Isaac and I also played a game while we were watching. Then we called it a night.
