Sonya’s Blog - Day 257 - March 5th - Driving to Williams, Arizona

We are camping in Williams, Arizona next. Williams is the nearest city to the Grand Canyon. I didn’t realize that there is camping right in the park when I booked my campsite. Ah well, this will have to do. We are still 60 miles away, so it will be a bit of a haul to get to the Grand Canyon.

We are looking at a 5 1/2 hour drive, so we wanted to get out fairly early. We pulled out at around 9:30, which is okay. New Mexico has some beautiful, rugged scenery. I took a few pictures:

It also has some rough roads and we had a bit of a mishap:

We didn’t even knew we had blew the tire, a trucker passed us and waved us over. Just as Blake was setting up to change the tire a pick-up pulled over and a couple of guys hopped out and helped Blake out. They were very helpful and had all the right tools to do the job quickly. We would have been at it a lot longer if they hadn’t have stopped to help us out.

The view from where we pulled over to change the tire:

The rest of the drive was uneventful, thank goodness. We passed into Arizona and I remembered to get a picture of the sign:

We found our campsite, just outside of Williams at around 5 PM or so. We were all pretty tired. We whipped up a quick supper. Blake and the kids watched a Batman movie (the one with Heath Ledger as The Joker). I finished my book, The Infinite Sea. It is the second book in The 5th Wave series. It was pretty good, but I still don’t have a clue what the aliens are up to.
