The Road To Tokyo

We took the shuttle into town again and we’re going to spend some time at the World War II museum. Apparently it’s one of the best war museums in the country, which sounded pretty good to us. I brought Dad’s iPod today so I can entertain myself with music while I’m browsing around the museum, which will just make everything even better. I won’t go into detail about the museum, because although it was

interesting, I’ve already read a lot about WWII. I’ve always thought they should talk more about Hitler and the Nazi party because that part is quite interesting. People forget that the first country the Nazi’s invaded was their own. This museum was different from all the other ones we’ve

been to because they actually talk quite a lot about the war in the Pacific Theatre, a part of the war that is usually forgotten when speaking about World War II. Those Japanese were crazy man. I mean, it’s a little hard to fight against people who are honoured to die in battle and who will commit suicide rather than being captured but who just keep fighting. The Allies actually thought that they were going to have to burn the whole country to the ground because it didn’t seem like they would ever give up. I guess nuclear bombs will change anyone’s mind, even that of a crazed Emperor who thinks he is a god reincarnated. We also saw a Coast Guard presentation around

noon. They did some synchronized throwing around of rifles which was pretty cool, especially if you think about the fact that each rifle had a six inch bayonet on the end and they were twirling them and throwing them in the air. About halfway through the day, we went to see an IMAX show, called Beyond All Boundaries, depicting the entrance of the United States into the war. It was narrated by Tom Hanks and was very well done. After we finished up at the museum around 4:00pm, we noticed that there was a parade going on a couple blocks down on Canal Street. We decided to go check it out, but we didn’t stay too long since it was so crowded, we couldn’t even get near the road. Along the way back to the shuttle stop, we sat down at the French Market for a quick bowl of gumbo before the drive. It was another long day, but a good day at that. Peace out m8s.
