Sonya’s Blog - Day 188 - December 27th - Not Up To Much
Well, the kids slept in until 11 AM today. Blake wanted to try running today, since he hasn’t run for over a month due to his bad cough. He feels that it is time to start up again, I was not so sure since he still has the cough a little bit. I was wrong and he had a good run and then went to the small fitness room that they have at the campground. It finally rained last night and I was hoping that would clear the air a bit, and it did, the humidity is now at 96%. Nice. Blake gets hot really quickly and when he came back he smelled fantastic and was soaking wet (his shirt, from all the sweat - ewww). He tried to get close, but I strong armed him and ordered him into the shower. I then sprayed his clothes and put them straight in the washer when Blake’s shower finished.
Blake and I took Kizmet on a lovely walk all the way around the campground and farm property. This campground used to be a plantation, but the campground is only a small part of the property. There are several buildings, fields for horses and the McKay House (which is used for weddings and the like). It is not the old Plantation house because when General Sherman and his Union troops were on their military Savannah Campaign (commonly referred to as “The March to the Sea”) they torched a lot of the plantations in Georgia. They actually torched and destroyed many things along their way in order to demoralize the enemy and the civilians. Due to the fact that Sherman was deep in enemy territory, they were cut off from their supply chain and so they used the land that they conquered to feed their troops. The goal of Sherman was to reach Savannah and take it, thereby splitting the Confederacy in half and hopefully ensuring the Union victory (which it did). As a result, many of the Plantations that were in the Savannah area were completely destroyed. The grounds are beautiful and we walked around everything that was not swampy. Here is a picture of Kizmet watching the horses (which are unfortunately hard to see):

The kids finally got up and had something to eat. Nobody was very energetic today, so we decided to finish our game of Love Letters. In the end it was a battle between Natasha and I, but I was victorious. We played one more round and Natasha was victorious. The boys just aren’t very good at Love Letters I guess:)
Isaac decided that he needed to return the drone helicopter that the neighbour had lent to him, since we are leaving tomorrow. He got a Christmas surprise, because the guy told him to keep it. He never plays with it and he has a real drone, so since Isaac likes it so much he gets to keep it. Isaac offered to buy it, but the guy got it for free somewhere and was happy Isaac was so excited about it. Cool.
Earlier in this trip Isaac had bought a book at a used bookstore called The Last Dragonslayer, which he loved. I had read it as well, because Isaac was going to do a book report on it and I needed to know the story. Ever since he has read it, he has wanted to read the next book in the series. I have looked in plenty of bookstores, but cannot find it. It is online, however, and I had it delivered to the campground for one of his Christmas presents (actually I gave him the 2nd and the 3rd book). I started to read my People of the Lightning book that I had started, but it is very in depth and I wanted an easier read today as I am not feeling the best. Isaac said he didn’t mind if I read The Song of the Quarkbeast before him (the 2nd book in the series), so I started reading that instead. It is just as cute and well written as the first book, plus a super easy read - so a huge bonus for me today.
After a simple supper, Isaac wanted to watch the movie Ant-Man. Blake had promised to take Isaac to this movie in the summer when it was released. It never worked out, so Blake gave him the movie for Christmas. So we all sat down and watched it. I had no idea that Michael Douglas was in the movie, that was a surprise. The movie was okay, not the best Marvel movie out there. Paul Rudd is always cute and this movie is not exception. Isaac really liked it and is positive that he will be in the next Avengers movie. Who knows.
After the movie was over, the kids went to bed. I decided to read a bit more of Isaac’s book, but I didn’t have very much more to go and finished the book. I enjoyed it and I think Isaac will really like it as well.
Off to St. Augustine, Florida tomorrow.
