Sonya’s Blog - Day 170 - December 9th - The Carolina Opry
Blake bought tickets to go to the Carolina Opry tonight and see The Carolina Opry Christmas Special, The Christmas Show of the South. It is a variety show and it sounds like it will be entertaining.
Lots of school work being done today by the kids, since we are just hanging around the campsite again today. I spent some time with Isaac reviewing grammar and going through some more rules. Isaac is super excited about the whole thing. After we finished, Isaac started on his math. Natasha finished up her timeline, here is a picture:

I finally finished my book, it didn’t get any better and it finished exactly how I thought it would. I already knew some of the history, so that helps to determine how the story is going to go I suppose. I was not impressed, it will be going into the donation bin as soon as I find one.
Blake and I took Kizmet on a nice long walk along the beach. It was a nice day, but quite windy. We all had a great time on the beach. When we got back, we had some lunch. We determined that we needed a few groceries and since there is a grocery store on the premises, we walked on over with Kizmet. The grocery store had a funny smell and I didn’t like being in there as it gave me an instant headache. There was a grocery store across the main road, so we decided to continue our walk over there. Well, that was interesting. This is an 8 lane road, but it had a crosswalk and a walk signal. We waited for the walk sign and started walking and got yelled at by a guy going right on the opposite side of the road. He yelled that we were not supposed to be crossing because they had the green light, even though the walk signal still said walk. What an idiot. He just about ran into us, we had to stop and he went by. I am sure stopping for that 30 seconds was going to cost him his whole day, I wonder what killing two people and a dog would have been like for him. Moron. It seems to be like that all over the States, it is my least favourite part, but pedestrians are treated like they are in the way. Perhaps so few people walk in the States, that everyone has forgotten what the rules of the road are. Pretty sure that if we have the walk sign, we have the right of way.
We got our groceries and then headed back to the campground. We crossed at a different place this time, so as not to take our lives in our hands at the crosswalk. Kizmet had some great walks today, so she was extremely happy.
We had an early supper and then headed out to the show, which was about a half hour drive away. We walked around the theatre for a bit and checked out the gift store. They had some cute Christmas decorations and I bought the cutest Santa and Snowman for the RV. Here they are all set up in the RV:

We had good seats, with a good view of the stage. The show was really good. Lots of singing and dancing with a bit of comedy and one magic trick in the show. They also had the dance troupe of cloggers, All That, perform in some of the numbers. I guess they were on America’s Got Talent at some point and probably lots of other things. They were very good and really got the crowd going. It was not the most energetic crowd we have ever encountered, lots of seniors. The people in front of us couldn’t even muster the energy to clap after each act. Then at the end the crowd gave them a standing ovation, it was weird. There were a couple of Christmas songs that I had never heard before. The last song was very dramatic and wasn’t really a song about Christmas, but about Easter. It was well performed. It was an entertaining show and we all had a good time. This was one of Isaac’s favourite performers, here he is doing Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer:
