Sonya's Blog - Day 136 - November 5th - Frisbee Golf
Happy Birthday to Kizmet. She is 3 years old today! We will give her lots of walks and treats to celebrate.
It is our last day in Pittsburgh. Blake decided to get up early and go for a run with Adam. At 8:10 or so Suzanne was asking if Blake was here because her van was missing and she had to take Claire and the neighbour kids to school. We could not get a hold of Blake or Adam. Suzanne went to talk to the neighbours, but they couldn't drive because their car was in the shop. There was nothing for it, I grabbed the keys or the truck and the girls jumped in the back so Suz and I could take them to school. We were almost there when there was a bit of a traffic snag due to some construction crews. They had a van parked in the middle lane with an arrow flashing to get over to the right hand lane, which I did. There was a city bus in front of me and when he tried to pass the bus, the arrow on the top of the van got stuck on top of the bus, making it impossible for anyone to move. We decided to go left, but there is no easy alternative route. We had to go quite far out of the way to get around. Ended up getting stuck in traffic again, due to another accident. We finally got everyone dropped off, but they were all late. When we got back to the house, Blake and Adam still weren't back. We couldn't figure out why they needed to drive to go for a run. Furthermore, if they needed to drive, why didn't they take the truck so Suzanne still had her van? The mysteries.
Blake finally got home about 20 minutes later. Here is the thing, they drove to the University of Pitt to go for a run because all Adam's gear was there. Seems a little silly and caused the whole household problems, but they seemed to think they were justified in their actions.
The kids were doing school work and trying to get the rest of the assignments done that Suzanne had planned for them. Natasha was also catching up on her blogs. Blake had to take the truck and go to Costco because our tire was in. I took the dogs our for a walk and Simon wanted to come with me.
Simon and I had a great walk. It was already hot out and Simon loves to play in the leaves. I got some great pictures:

Simon wanted to play with his Hulk up in the toy room. When he wants to do this, he runs up to me and says "Hulk upstairs" and puts his hands in the air for me to pick him up. He is super cute. Off we went to the toy room to play with Hulk, Thor and Captain America (just called "America" in Simon's lingo). We also played with the cars and trucks. Simon liked it when I stood the three superheroes up and he knocked them over with his car and yelled that they had fallen down.

Suzanne left to go and get Claire from school. She was only going to school for a half day today because it was our last day in Pittsburgh. When she got home, we all had lunch. Adam also came home around this time. After lunch we all headed out to Schenley Park to play frisbee golf. There is a course set up at the park. Schenley Park is a large municipal park right behind the University of Pittsburgh. It is a beautiful park and a great place to spend a gorgeous fall afternoon. I didn't think too many people would be out frisbee golfin', but I was wrong. We were pretty slow going on the course, due to the fact that Claire and Kate were playing with us and they cannot throw the frisbee too far. We ended up only playing three holes with all the kids and then going to a park as there were people behind us and they were super serious about their frisbee golf. We hung out at the park and Adam gave Natasha a lesson on doing proper research. Simon fell asleep during this time, which was good because he was some fussy and tired. We then walked over to another park so the kids could play some more as they were done with frisbee golf. Suzanne stayed with the kids and Blake, Adam and I headed off to play more frisbee golf. It is an 18 hole course, that covers quite a large area and goes in the trees, which is always challenging. We played a few holes in the trees. It was a great course and it was too bad we couldn't play the whole thing.

We were all hot, tired and thirsty. We hopped back in the cars and headed back to the Presslee household. My kids have to make a bust of their Pittsburgh historical figure they did research on. Natasha got to work on making playdoh. Isaac was supposed to help her, but Natasha kicked him out of the kitchen and he ended up playing with Kate and Claire instead. I took Simon upstairs because he wanted more "Hulk upstairs".

Suzanne ordered in Indian food for supper, which was all very tasty. After supper, Blake and I played Trouble with Kate and Claire. Blake and I got killed by Kate and Claire more times than I can mention. In the end Claire won the game, she was pretty proud of herself, as she should be. The kids had their dessert, which was the pumpkin pie that Isaac had made. It was time for the kids to go to bed. Suzanne got hers to bed. Adam went upstairs to play video games with Isaac. Natasha, Suzanne and I played a game of Love Letters. This is a fun little game, where the goal is to get your love letters to the Princess before anyone else does. It is a card game and the rounds go pretty quickly. Blake joined us a little ways into our game, but he was at a disadvantage because we already had some love letters. He learned how to play, while Suzanne won the first round. We then played another round, which I won. Our kids then headed off to bed and the adults played 120's. This time it was girls against the guys. Suzanne and I started out strong, but couldn't maintain it. We lost. That's the way it goes.
The kids enjoying their dessert and Simon in his cool PJ's that we gave him for his birthday:
