Sonya's Blog - Day 104 - October 4th - Visiting Tante Marguerite
Today we were getting up, having breakfast and heading to Villa Acadienne to visit with Blake's Great Aunt, Marguerite. This is the Senior's Care Home that she is in. Michel called in the morning and we were told that she was up and in her wheelchair and ready for visitors. This was good news because she had not been up and about for a bit as she had recently been in the hospital and was still recovering.
After breakfast we drove over, Mariette and Lise came as well. This was good because they led the way there so we would know where to go. Tante Marguerite was in good spirits and we had a really good visit with her. Pierre was there visiting when we got there, so it was a big crowd. Tante Marguerite's roommate is 103, turning 104 soon! She looks really good and can move around with no problems, amazing. We were too many people for her little room, so we headed to a larger room so we could all sit and have a visit. We had a really good visit and it was really nice to see Tante Marguerite again. I managed to get a great picture of the group. We had a really long visit, with a break for lunch.

Once we were done our visit we went over to visit Felix and Berthe. When we were in Sydney we had visited Felix's daughter, Lianne. We went over to say hi and to introduce the kids. We had a nice visit and headed out back to check out the beach and the area where Little Brook goes into the ocean. Before we left Felix offered to tour us around tomorrow and to have us over for breakfast. We accepted and said we would see them in the morning.
It was time to head back to Michel and Mariette's. Michel was cooking a feast for us of Turkey and all the trimmings, an early Thanksgiving for us which is perfect since I won't be cooking a turkey in our tiny little oven on Thanksgiving.
Everything was in full swing when we got back. Kizmet had been left home all day, so I needed to take her out for a run. Michel and Mariette's place backs onto the ocean and they have a wonderfully long field out back that Kizmet can run in and go crazy. She loves it! As Blake and I were coming back we noticed a fancy car in the driveway behind our truck. It turned out to be Albert (another one of Jocelyne's brothers) coming for a visit and to meet us. We had never met Albert before, so it was nice of him to come for a visit. We went in for a visit and Albert met the kids and LIse. Mariette had waited all day for us to take her walk along the ocean, Michel assured us we had time before supper was ready. Mariette, Lise, Albert, Blake, Kizmet and I all headed out for a walk. First we had a good look at Albert's car, which was a 25th anniversary Corvette from 1978. The car was in great condition. The seats are silver because it was the 25th anniversary car. Pretty fancy. Here are some pics:

We walked down to Belliveau Cove first. As we were getting there a truck was leaving and the guy new Albert. He jumped out of his truck and told us he had just been diving and opened up the back of his truck and he had a full bucket of fresh scallops that he had just caught. Some were so big. He then offered us one. I didn't know you could eat them raw, so Blake took one and we shared it. Not too different from the cooked, so good and we couldn't have got them fresher. We then carried on for our walk. It was a sunny day, but the wind was rather cool so I was glad I bundled up. At the cove there is a lovely walking path that goes along the ocean. Nobody was on the path so we were able to let Kizmet off leash and had a great walk. What an amazing location, Kizmet was in heaven. She had the whole beach to herself and could run and frolic at will. We walked for a bit and then turned around to head back for turkey dinner.
Here are some pictures from Mariette and Michel's house. Natasha doing homework in the sitting room (look at that view!). Kizmet hoping for some tasty Turkey and Minou helping cook:

When we got back, everything was ready for supper. We washed up and sat down to a fantastic meal. Everything was soooo tasty and I at so much food. We all enjoyed our meal tremendously.
After supper we looked at more pictures of our trip.
