Sonya’s Blog - Day 80 - September 10th - Driving to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia

Today we drive to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. We will spend a couple of days with Aunt Theresa and Uncle Fred before heading to Cape Breton. First we have to stop in Truro to drop off our RV at Leisure Days for servicing. I had to make sure the RV was cleaned up and that we had everything we will need for our 2 weeks away from “home”. We were not going too fast and it took us most of the morning to get everything done. We then had to get gas and hook up so it was almost 1 before we pulled out of the campsite.

We had a good drive. The drive across Confederation Bridge went smoothly, we spent another 1/2 hour or so in New Brunswick and then we were in Nova Scotia. They had a great visitors Centre with a large Welcome to Nova Scotia sign, so we stopped there for bathroom breaks and to get some pictures. The mosquitoes were really bad around there so we didn’t stay too long.

The rest of the drive to Truro was pretty uneventful. We got to Leisure Days RV around 4 and it took us an hour and 1/2 to get the RV checked in and then unpack all of our stuff. They wanted us to take the bikes with us, so that took most of the time getting them off the RV and into the truck. We also had to empty out the fridges and freezer and take all the food with us. We finally got everything done and headed out to drive to New Glasgow. It was another hour down the highway, so we called Uncle Fred to tell them where we were at.

We finally got to Uncle Fred’s and Aunt Theresa’s and they had supper ready for us when we got there. We quickly unpacked and then sat down to a delicious meal. Aunt Theresa had also made a blueberry pie which was really good. It took PIxie quite awhile to get used to us and Kizmet. She spent the first hour barking at us and wondering why we were invading her space. PIxie is a Chihuahua, so she is 9 pounds of fury. She finally settled down, but wasn’t to sure about us being there.

We visited for the rest of the night and then went to bed.
