Sonya’s Blog - Day 77 - September 7th - Victoria By the Sea and the Coastal Drive

Aunt Theresa and Uncle Fred hung out with us for the morning and then they headed back home to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. We are heading there in a few days so we will see them again. When they left Isaac was trying to get his pirate ship kite airborne. We have had this kite for a few years now and it has never been taken out of the package. Blake brought it along and it was quite the process just to get the thing together. Isaac started out doing it, but needed help in the end as he was so frustrated with it. Right after Fred and Theresa left they got the thing airborne and it was staying up there no problem as it was quite a windy day.

The PEI Tourism has split PEI into 3 separate Coastal Drives that they recommend. Natasha looked through each of the drives and what they have to offer and decided that we should do the Central Coastal Drive. Natasha really wanted to go to Victoria by the Sea so we headed out that way. It was not too far from Cornwall so were were there in about 1/2 hour. Victoria by the Sea is about 4 blocks long and wide and super quaint. We walked around and checked out all the sites. They have the largest tree in PEI so Isaac snapped a picture of that for his tree project. They have a choclatier shop and we bought some treats there.

We really liked Victoria by the Sea and I would recommend it as a stop if you are ever in PEI. We then headed back out on the Coastal Trail and looked at all the sites. We ended up in North Rustico and had supper there at a restaurant near the wharf. It wasn’t the fanciest, but the waitress was super nice and the fish was good. After supper it was dark so we just headed back to the RV as we really couldn’t see the sites on the Coastal Drive anymore.

We got back quite late so the kids headed to bed. I was just about done my Armada book so I wanted to finish it up before I went to sleep. Like Ready Player One it is about kids who are huge gamers. This time the government has been using games, 2 in particular, to train the populace to fight Alien invaders. The Alien invasion threat is now a reality and all of these gamers have to fight this war for real now. Everything is set up just like in the video game so it seems like they are just playing the game still. There is some other drama that goes along in the story as well, but that is the gist. It was a good story, I did find some of it a little predictable. I enjoyed Ready Player One more, I thought it was more unique. Still a good book and an enjoyable read.
