Sonya’s Blog - Day 75 - September 5th - PEI and Cow’s Creamery

It was chilly again this morning so it made it hard to get out of bed, as a result I was late getting to my cleaning up. Blake’s Aunt and Uncle were supposed to arrive between Noon and 1, so I needed to get moving.

After I finally managed to drag myself out of bed and have a shower, I only had a couple of hours to get the place in ship shape and the sheets washed. Luckily the RV is not too big, but we have a lot of stuff so everything has to be moved around in order for it to be properly cleaned. It went well and I was just finishing up when Uncle Fred and Aunt Theresa arrived.

It was lovely to see Uncle Fred and Aunt Theresa again and we had a huge hug fest when they got there. Then we sat down and had tea and caught up. We chatted for a couple of hours and then hopped in the cars and went to the Cows ice cream parlour which is about 10 minutes away. It is their factory and they offered free tours so we thought we would check it out and have some ice cream.

The factory tours are just self guided walking tours through their factory. Unfortunately, it is Saturday and nothing was running. We could see all the equipment and they had TV’s set up to show us the process. We saw where they make their T-shirts, ice cream, cheese and butter. It was interesting. We then headed into the store area and looked at all the t-shirts, which are really funny. My favourite was Moopy, which was a cow lying on his back on top of a dog house. Natasha’s favourite t-shirt was Austin Cowers and it said “Moo Baby, Moo” on the back. Isaac loved Cownadian, Moo North Strong and Free. So much fun. They had a onesie in a cow pattern that Isaac loved and they were 25% off, so we got him one since he has outgrown some of his pj’s. We also bought some butter, cheese and a postcard. Aunt Theresa treated us all to an ice cream cone, so that was really nice.

After Cows we headed into Charlottetown to check out the wharf area for a bit. Blake ended up parking quite far away so we had quite the hike down to the wharf and then a long climb back up once we were done looking around. This is the historic part of Charlottetown, so there was lots of old buildings to look at. The wharf area is quite quaint, with another Cows and litte shops. There was also a street performer who did all his tricks on a pogo stick, Isaac wanted to stick around for the end of his act, but it always takes them forever to get to that part and it was time to head back.

We headed back to the RV to have supper. Uncle Fred had brought burgers and we had picked up some authentic PEI fries at the wharf to go with them. Blake grilled the burgers and I made a salad for supper and then we were all set. I cleaned up and Uncle Fred dried for me while Blake started up the fire. We all sat around the fire pit and relaxed. It was a beautiful evening in PEI, very mild and we are right on the water so you could hear the water lapping on the shore and it was perfect.

Our couch folds out into a double bed and we made that up for our guests. It is actually a decent bed once it is pulled out and it looked quite cozy. Kimet jumped up on the bed (she had lots of encouragement from Aunt Theresa) and spent the night cuddling up. I was going to bring her into our bedroom, but Aunt Theresa wouldn’t hear of it. They had left Pixie at home and she needed a dog to cuddle up to:) Kizmet was quite happy with the arrangement!
