Sonya’s Blog - Day 63 - August 24th - Driving to Quebec City

It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive to our Quebec City campsite from our Montreal campsite and we can avoid driving through both cities when we drive there. We had to do some running around before we left to get some supplies for the truck, like diesel and DEF. The DEF is a pain because not all gas stations sell it, but Canadian Tire does so we had to go there. Natasha and Isaac stayed behind at the RV and miraculously Natasha had finished up all the packing up by the time we got back. Isaac had apparently walked Kizmet 3 times for his part in helping out, oh and he had breakfast. All we had to do was put the RV on the truck and pull out. Perfect! She even made us coffees, so that was nice.

The drive was easy and uneventful, just the way we like them. Our campground is in St. Nicholas, which is SW of Quebec City. We are about 20 minutes to Old Quebec. The campground is just off the main highway, but it is quite deep so our campsite is quite far away from the road. This is good because we cannot hear the traffic too much.

We got all set up and Blake and I ran to the grocery store to get supplies. It was a pretty fancy IGA they had, with all sorts of specialty items and a whole cooler dedicated to Quebec Fromagiers. We, of course, bought a couple. We like to support the local economies and all that, plus it looks like super tasty cheese.

Natasha put the Québec sticker on our RV and to the left is a picture of what our maps look like now.

When we got back to the campsite, Isaac and I played some lacrosse. Kizmet saw us playing and raced out of the RV to join in the fun, which made it a whole different game. She was much better at catching the ball than we were, so we ended up playing with 2 balls as Kizmet would run off with the ball she caught. Luckily, the campground is not too full right now and we had lots of room to play. I had to go in for supper so Blake took over playing, while also talking on the phone to his Dad - so talented!

After supper I read my book and Blake and the kids watched an episode of Corner Gas. I am pretty close to finishing London, it’s about 1100 pages and I think I have 100 left. I came close, but was too tired. I may as well have called it a night about an hour before I did, because I only got a page read and I will probably have to re-read that part as I kept nodding off. Ah well, I will finish it tomorrow. Blake finished New York before he started watching the show, they are both by Edward Rutherford, so he said I could start on that. I think I will need to read a couple of other different style books first before I read another Rutherford.
