Queen's Street West

Ohhhh yeah, shopping is the bomb. We took the sightseeing hop on hop off bus all the way around once again today once we'd managed to be early for the train, catch the train and get into the city, but it took Mum and I a little longer than it took the boys. Our first stop was off on Yonge St, just to walk around and look in the shops, but we ended up spending most of our time in the Eaton Centre, which is basically just a modern mall. Whoops. But that wasn't Yonge St's most interesting area either. We got back on the bus and took it back around to Queen's St West, named the second trendiest street in the world by Vogue magazine. It was here we stopped for lunch at the Furniture Warehouse, where everything on the menu is 4.95$. The food was decent too, so restaurants out there take note. Make your food under five bucks and people will go there. After that the boys went back to the trailer while Mum and I did some shopping. There are lots of neat shops on Queen's St, vintage stores, alternative stores, clothing stores. I found a Bad-era Michael Jackson t-shirt in one store next to a Justin Beiber one. I ended up buying two pairs of shorts, one at Brandy Melville (yes Matchie, it's awesome) and a pair of boyfriend jeans. Yay, probably no more shopping for the rest of the trip. After we went up and back down a few blocks, we got back on the tour bus and headed back to Union Station, where we were supposed to meet the boys when they got off their train. Well, they missed the train and had to drive downtown. We were in a rush to get to a play and so by the time we were all in the truck and driving it was 6:30pm and none of us had eaten. The play we saw, Newsies, was really good. It was originally a Disney movie that hadn't worked out at all, so people forgot about it until some guy decided to turn it into a play, which is now on Broadway. It's about the news boys at the turn of the century in NYC. They went on a strike led by Jack Kelly when the boss upped the price of the newspapers the boys had to buy every morning. There were lots of twists and turns and such and of course there was also a love story in true Disney fashion and I liked it. It's still second to Kinky Boots though. We ended up having to go for a quick meal afterwards, at like eleven o'clock at night, but luckily everything on Yonge St is open until about midnight so it worked out well for us. Peace out m8s.
