Sonya’s Blog - Day 43 - August 4th - Moving to Brampton

We got up and started packing up right away. We wanted to be on the road by 9 AM so that we would get into the Toronto area prior to noon. Packing up went really well and we were on the highway by 9:30, which is not too bad.

I decided to call Alberta Services about my Driver’s License while we were on the road, but it was a fruitless and frustrating conversation. They were very unhelpful and will not help me get my license and went as far to accuse me of fraud for trying to get my license while being out of Alberta for such a long time. According to them I am not an Alberta resident and there is nothing they can do until I show up at a Registry office and prove who I am and that I have a legitimate address in Alberta. Good times. I will be without a license for the rest of this trip.

We arrived in Brampton and found our campground. We got quite a large campsite, but Blake messed up a little when he booked and our site does not have sewage connection. We are here for 7 nights and we cannot go 7 nights without emptying our grey water, even if we are very conservative with our usage. We asked if they could move us at anytime during our stay and they said there was nothing available. This campground is not a KOA, but it is the closest campground to downtown Toronto, which is why Blake chose it. It is a bit of a dumpy campground and there are some sketchy characters around us who are clearly full-timers in this campground. Quite a few of the campers have dogs, but they make no effort to control their dogs barking. They just leave them outside barking away, not sure we are going to love this place.

We got all set up and didn’t feel like going into Toronto so we just did our own thing and then went out for dinner. We found a really nice Indian restaurant close by and the food was excellent.

We came back from supper and it was pretty late by this time so the kids headed off to bed and Blake and I were not too far behind them. We had a plan to head into Toronto tomorrow and do the hop on, hop off bus tour and check out Casa Loma. Blake also wanted to go to a Blue Jays game and they are playing tomorrow night.

No pictures for today, so here is Isaac:
