Sonya’s Blog - Day 10 - Driving to Sioux Falls from The Black Hills

Today is a driving day and a pretty long one as well, 5 hours and 40 minutes so we can easily add 2 hours to that number. I wanted to get out as soon as possible, but everyone else had other ideas. We ended up getting out by 9:30 which was okay I guess. There was a lot of clean-up outside and trying to get things dried out before we packed them away. It was hot and sunny so everything was almost dried. We went through Hill City and then onto Rapid City. We took the truck route so we didn’t see much of Rapid City, just filled up. After Rapid City there was a scenic detour through The Badlands National Park that we decided to take. Unfortunately we could not do any of the hikes because no dogs are allowed, so I prefer our badlands. It looks a lot like our badlands, but paler, pinker rock formations. We got some pictures and it was a nice detour.

We are now on the I-90 and it is a snore fest so we are listening to some stories on CD to help pass the time as we have 2 hours left in our drive. At least we will be at our destination for supper.

Sioux Falls was a pretty nice area, but the KOA was right off the highway so it was pretty noisy. The campground was nice and we set up in no time at all and started on supper. After supper the Natasha made lunches for our trip tomorrow and Isaac did the dishes. Blake and I ran out to get gas and a few groceries. On the way we decided to stop at Falls Park to check out the Sioux Falls and they were spectacular:

It was nice that they had the whole area lit up because we could walk around and still see the falls. We didn’t stay long, but decided that we would bring the kids back in the morning because they were so neat. We got our gas and groceries and headed back to the RV for bed. The kids had all their chores done and Tash even dried and put away the dishes, sweet!

We did have decent internet connection, but we just didn’t stay long enough to get caught up with posting, we will have to get it done in KC.
