Today was mostly a driving day. The kids did manage to get to the pool at the KOA before we left and I managed to get to the Walmart to get some fresh veggies and fruit as we were not sure what the shopping would be like in Yellowstone. Not very exciting for me, but necessary. Blake came with me and got a much needed haircut. The kids had a great time at the pool/splash park, but it was a little cold. Then we packed up and got on the road. We stopped at an amazing look-out on the way to Helena that overlooked the Missouri River Canyon and the old US Highway. We got some great pictures, which I will put on my post. Next stop was Helena, but we didn’t stay long. Just got some drinks and walked Kizmet a bit and then we were on our way again.
My favourite part of the day happened when we stopped for gas at Cardwell. You will see a picture of me sitting in a pretty cool car and 5 of them clustered around the car I am in. The backed them all in like that so they could fuel up in one go. They are called Slingshots and are made by Polaris. They only had one wheel in the back, we thought they looked a little like a Bat Mobile. I asked the guy if I could take a picture of his car and post it on my blog and he said I could go and sit in it and he would take my picture. They were from Utah and had flown into Minnesota to pick up the Slingshots and were driving them home to Utah. I thought maybe they were for racing, but was told they do not “officially” race them - Ha! I thought they would be really loud when they fired them back up and were leaving, but they were very quiet and apparently corner like a dream. Cool cars!
We then drove the rest of the way to Yellowstone and set up. We were trying to post our blogs to the website, but the wifi does not work very well at the KOA and it took over an hour to make one post. We were frustrated at that point and called it a night.
